Wagga Wagga Beach Caravan Park
Yes, BEACH! Located on a beautiful stretch of the Murrumbidgee River in the centre of town is the Wagga Wagga Beach Caravan Park. We stayed for one night in late January 2014 on one of our big road trips.
Quite a fancy caravan park compared to a lot of the ones we have stayed in. This one has bitumen roads throughout as well as large, modern and clean amenities that included all the usual stuff like toilets, showers and laundry facilities. There is a camp kitchen that we didn’t use, but we did see several other people taking advantage of it. It is a dog friendly park with all the usual rules about leads and cleaning up after them. We stayed in the powered area, which meant a small site but we had the shade of some nice big trees. Unpowered sites were available.
The absolute best feature of the Wagga Wagga Beach Caravan Park is it’s location. Just a short stroll out of the park and you walk straight onto a beautiful, big sandy beach. It was a Monday afternoon when we walked on to the beach, and there were heaps of people there enjoying the water. If you wanted to be fully prepared for a trip to Wagga Wagga, you must bring with you some inflatable toys or anything that floats. The Murrumbidgee River flows through here fast enough that loads of people would walk with their inflatable toys up stream, then wade into the water and float down. It looked like great fun. The far side of the river flowed a lot faster than the side closest to the beach.
We spent an hour or two down at the beach cooling off and playing with our dogs.
While cooking dinner we were greeted by several friendly possums. They were clearly tame and used to humans. I’m guessing people probably hand feed them.
If we were travelling anywhere near Wagga Wagga again I would have no hesitation in staying at the Wagga Wagga Beach Caravan Park again.
