Traveling with dogs does limit a lot of the activities we can do and the places we can stay at. Kynuna is a small town in North West Queensland that we stayed out the back of the Blue Healer pub. It’s a very remote place that doesn’t even have mobile phone reception.

What it does have is a great pub (The Blue Heeler). We were able to tie our dogs up out the front of the pub and sit right next to them up on the long front deck while we had a few beers. We had a great afternoon chatting to some locals and some other travellers while sinking some cold schooners. We love travelling with our dogs, so it was great to be able to have them nearby while we were enjoying our afternoon.

Although the Blue Heeler Pub in Kynuna is on the main highway, only every now and then a road train would slowly cruise past.

Once the sun went down, one of the locals we were chatting to opened up the kitchen in the pub. For me there was one stand out on the menu. Pork chops. When our dinner was ready you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. There sat 2 or the nicest looking pork chops I had ever seen, together with roast vegies, greens and a really nice mushroom gravy.

Pushing the boundaries, I even gave the dogs the bones after I had finished. Definitely a wonderful day and night that we won’t forget.
